Andrographolide Microparticles for Targetted Delivery to Lung Cancer
Vinita Chodankar
Andrographis Paniculata Nees belongs to family Acanthaceae. It contains andrographolide, an anticancer phytoceutical, having least side effects and acts at multitude of molecular targets, hence, can be considered as a best option for cancer therapy. To achieve targeting of lung tumour cells, andrographolide loaded, folate anchored chitosan based microparticles have been prepared. This conjugated microparticles help to carry away drug molecule at the tumour site which are over expressed by folate receptor. This process can be made more selective by formulation of microparticles in dry powder inhaler (DPI) form. The present book covers isolation of andrographolide from plant, design of drug loaded and targetted microparticles in the form of DPI and its evaluation by Twin impinger analysis, antiangiogenesis and MTT assay on Human lung carcinoma cell lines (H522).
