Abdul Hussein Algenabi
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) remain the biggest cause of deaths worldwide. Ghrelin and leptin are two hormones playing an important role in the regulation of food intake and body weight . It has been noted that high leptin and low ghrelin level are associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) and insulin resistance. Serum fasting concentrations of leptin, ghrelin, interlukin-6 (IL-6), C-Reactive protein (CRP), insulin, Cortisol, Testosterone, estradiol, human growth hormone (hGH) and IGF-1 were measured using ELISA kits. Fasting blood glucose and lipid profile were measured by enzymatic methods.
