As an attempt to expose the functionality of academic research in management conducted in Divine Word College of Calapan, this research would explore the elements that have contributed to the utilization or non-utilization (in the context of this paper, the term functionality is used) of academic research in management namely relevance viewed from the lens of timeliness and the recipients' needs in relation to policy or program concerns (Averch, 1975); communication by result dissemination (Glaser & Taylor, 1973); credibility in terms of comparison with research outputs and the quality of paper itself (Lincoln & Guba, 1985); and applicability in terms of transferability and fittingness (Merriam, 1998).
