Spiritual well-being and spiritual issues come more into focus as a person with a life threatening illness begins to acknowledge that they are dying. At the same time the person's usual resources for maintaining their spiritual well-being are often diminishing. Health professionals working with palliative care patients and their families often struggle to navigate these issues especially when they are also faced with managing complex physical symptoms.
