The last few years have seen an increase in microfinance activities in Cameroon, with an increase in the number of microfinance institutions. In most developing countries access to financial services has usually been linked to development. In Cameroon the focus has recently been on community development. This book aims to undertake an examination of the use of micro financing as a tool to community development in Cameroon, using the case study of the Buea Community. Some economist generally see Microfinance as a solution to poverty reduction and poverty alleviation. This area of research is of critical importance to policy makers and as a result confirms the need of an empirical research through a sound scientific research finding as seen in this book. The lack of information and specification of the impact of microfinance on community development in Cameroon leads to poorly defined mitigation startegies and eventually poor policies. Therefore this book will make a contribution to filling the existing information gap regarding the influence of microfinance on community development in Cameroon.
