Making Sense of Knowledge Creation Processes: Evidence from an Industrial Service Department Constantinos Giannaris

How do knowledge creation processes unfold? What are the important individual and group interactions within these processes? This book provides insights to such questions related to knowledge creation processes. Based on doctoral research at the LSE, this book approaches knowledge creation through an in-depth study of a maintenance department. The book makes sense of knowledge creation processes in an integrated and holistic manner using a theoretical framework which combines Nonaka's Unified Model of Dynamic Knowledge Creation with Von Krogh's Knowledge Activism framework. This process view of knowledge creation allows for the identification of different modes of knowledge creation within the case organisation. This book should be especially useful not only to academics and students for its methodological and theoretical contributions, but also to professionals, such as managers and those concerned with the management of knowledge, since it contributes practical implications and insights into, and specific conclusions about, knowledge creation processes and how they might be managed effectively in service project-based organizations more generally.
