The objective of this book is to investigate the different bases for respect and illustrate ways in which respect can be gained by an individual. The first six studies employ questionnaires consisting of vignettes as independent variables and a list of action tendencies as the dependent variable. The last two studies reported employ video techniques. This thesis furthers our knowledge of respect, and contributes to the understanding of respect as a social psychological concept.
