While classroom teaching and management strategies are well documented, the online environments are not, but also present different challenges and benefits. Teaching in an online environment requires a special set of teaching skills since many of the strategies and tactics associated with best teaching practices are somewhat constrained by the primarily text-based environment. This handbook summarizes the key strategies that an instructor utilizes to be effective in an online environment especially using Moodle LMS tools. The handbook was developed in response to the growing number of instructors at institutions who are considering or making the transition to using Learning Management systems (eg. Moodle LMS) to complement their face to face teaching and those who are currently teaching in ICT-Mediated distance programmes. Whether totally inexperienced in online instruction or are relatively savvy about it, instructors through this handbook will find the answers to many questions about how to manage a state-of-the-art online course.
