The mission of IT is to support and enable business strategy. IT can be used to reduce process quality and gain competitive advantage. The implementation of IT is a long-term investment commanding careful financial planning and management attention. It is an obligation for both business side and IT to align business with IT strategy. To enable cost reductions and efficiencies corporates should take a broader look at how to manage IT in a more delicate fashion. A key to this is by implementing performance management. The adoption of metrics and the Balanced Scorecard will enable the enterprise to drive strategic value from IT.
