Gas TransBoliviano owns and operates the Bolivian portion (557 Kms.) of the Bolivia ? Brazil Pipeline, the largest one in the country, and one of the largest and most important pipelines in South America. During the construction of this pipeline, an Indigenous People Development Plan (IPDP) was conceived and implemented. The main objective of this plan was to form long-term, trust-building partnerships with the communities in which it operates and to empower them to use the Bolivia-Brazil Pipeline as a sustainable economic development tool. The objective of this documento is to develop a Social Strategy Plan Proposal, taking as a case analysis GTB?s work in the conception, development and implementation of the Indigenous People Development Plan. This Plan has been selected for analysis because it is the first time there have been direct relations between an important company, international funders, the Bolivian Government, NGOs and indigenous communities.
