Reparations for Women Victims of Sgbv in Situations of Armed Conflict:: the Case of Northern Uganda Martha Engole

Over the last decade, the issue of reparations for victims of SGBV has risen exponentially among a number of post conflict societies. Discussions on how to cater for these victims has been on the agenda of most post conflict societies. After two decades of violence and human rights abuses in the north, victims of SGBV still remain at large. Discussions have arisen as to what possible transitional justice mechanisms can be accorded to these victims. This study therefore provides a new twist to the discussion, that victims of SGBV can be accorded reparations. since they are foreseen to provide victims with rehabilitation both physically and psychologically, recognize them as human beings with their own human and civic dignity and also provide them with active roles in the transitional justice process. The present study is aimed at policy makers, civil society, academics and the wider society.
