The future level of global warming is uncertain, but a wide range of estimates have been predicted by the scientists. The international community need to recognize and provide an umbrella protection to environmental refugees under the existing institution. However, the traditional approach in categorizing ?refugees? require an overhaul to address the emerging issue 'environmental refugees?. The book is divided into five chapters following a highly structured introduction. The first chapter elucidates the conventional understanding on the definition of ?refugee? and their protecting agency under international refugee law. The next three chapters identify the case and espouse the need for legal recognition of environmental refugees within the realm of international refugee law. The concluding chapter argues for the importance in protecting the environmental refugees and cautions the international community to realize and protect ?a new kind of refugees? which is not much diverse from the traditional understanding of the term ?refugee?. This book will be a hub for students and wide range of readers who would like to have a rudimentary knowledge on the issue of environmental refugees.
