The global need for harmless and pure renewable energy is always a subject of foremost interest to the society. A continuous and steady source of energy for mankind is the Sun, and harvesting it helps in solving the energy requirement. However, conventional harvesting of solar energy by the help of photovoltaic cells has its own limitations on its efficiency, and its availability which depend on the weather conditions and the time of the day. Apart from solar energy there are also other available natural sources of energy such as wind energy, kinetic energy which make use of massive turbines and transformers which are subject to wear and tear and need continuous maintenance. Whereas, Radio Frequency (RF) energy is a readily available source from the surrounding air at anytime of the day and at any weather conditions. Although, the available energy levels are quite low and are not constant, it still remains to be a promising solution in powering many of the consumer-oriented portable devices, RFID tags, wireless sensors and many more. Moreover, this system does not require bulky components to convert the microwave energy to a usable power.
