The Photovoltaic systems always operated in outdoor conditions and are subjected to several environmental disturbances like changing temperatures, changing irradiations, partial shading condition etc. Due to the low efficiency of the PV cell, the PV system must be operated at the maximum power point to extract the available PV power. It can be achieved by using the MPPT controller in conjunction with a power electronic converter. When the PV system is subjected to partial shading condition the electrical characteristics of the PV system exhibit multiple MPPs due to bypass diode operation across the shaded module, out of which only one is global MPP, and the other all are local MPPs. The conventional MPPT techniques fail to track global MPP under the partially shaded condition, and they trap at local MPP which leads to wastage of useful PV power. An attractive alternative to address the MPPT of the PV system under partial shading condition is metaheuristic algorithm based MPPT techniques.
