The Poetry of an Ignored Voice
Isabelle Humphreys
As tragically morbid my mind might seem, I am thrilled and proud and overly passionate to the point of addiction when it comes to writing poetry. The art of literature is my constant. It makes me feel clever. What's written down can't be talked over or brushed aside like a lot of young girls are, it's printed in black and white. Poetry can not be graded, it is subjective. It's an outlet for all the sorrowful aspects of my life. But most of all I hope it triggers an empathetic moment with people. I want my poetry to be read, and for someone to have that "That's how I feel." moment, because that might be their turning point.
