Story Soup collection of articles I wrote for eleven years for the" Jottings from 5th & G" column published in the Lake Oswego Review. Story Soup's predominant theme (flavor) is humor, sprinkled with sides of history, seriousness, and a bit of poetry. The book will make you chuckle; evoke fond memories; and hopefully create new connections. The section titled "Main Ingredients" is my hand-picked collection of comical anecdotes I committed to paper about some of my life experiences when I wrote with the Jottings writing group. Here are a few titles to whet your appetite: Molly Talks Dirty, Wiggly Jiggly Jell-O, Dashboard Duel, Surviving Camp Wenta Mucka, A Little Black Dress, My Hair's on Fire, Getting Out the Grinch. If the titles don't grab you, maybe "My Mulligatawny" will. It seemed fitting to end the book with my favorite soup recipe, adapted from Marco's restaurant in Portland, Oregon. "Preparing the Stock" talks about the history of the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center (LOCC) and the history of Jottings, which is based at the LOACC. Since many of the original Jotters inspired me to write with the group, I wanted you to meet them, so I included excerpts of their writing plus a few details about their connection to me. Enjoy the book...with a bowl of soup or not.
