At the start, Lord Mecha is just one kid on Jupiter that doesn't know he's been chosen to transcend past the doldrums of regular life. He has been chosen to be The Fire Born, one of the great Alchemists of his time. Getting there with his sanity intact is another matter. Growing up as an orphan with only his sister, Lydia on the surface of Caledonia was hard for them. Lydia was from Jupiter while Nick aka Lord Mecha was originally from Earth and dropped on Jupiter just after being born. He has to breathe in a specially designed mask while dodging school bullies and grown ups trying to sell them into the slave trade. Nick meets Frig, a mechanic that teaches him the basics of inventing and how to use his life essence to make his inventions unique. As Nick grows up he realizes that he must make a hard choice between being the good, upstanding person Lydia wants him to be or the man who ultimately saves his home world.
