Mary Ellen Spink
Ginny climbed the one hill on their farm to look around one more time. Tomorrow it would be theirs no more. Mama had explained that it was because of the terrible drouth and the depression. They would move far west to Oregon, where Pa Jim hoped for work at logging. Ginny wondered if this meant that she would never see her school, her church, and her friends again? In Oregon would she make new friends or just be alone? Would this rattletrap of a truck being loaded with their meager belongings hang together for a long trip? If not, what then? Already she was suffering the tremors of a scaredy-cat!
