During post-prohibition 1953, it's not uncommon to wander into a wild bar with strange characters, especially ones tucked away close to the river. That's why, to the untrained eye, Wade County, Mississippi was a curious place with a reputation of being too peaceful. This of course is all thanks to Coldwater Bar and Inn's owner, Merle Duxburry who keeps a close eye on Wade County, all of its tenants and some of Jacksonvilles as well. And this is why Coldwater Bar and Inn is the perfect place for plenty; the couple, the family, the tired fellow, or the weary traveller with a burden on their shoulders. But more importantly it's how Merle Duxburry gets his most precious commodity, because this is a burden you can sell, and you've never heard any stories about people turning down the deal with the devil. It's hard to keep Wade County that quiet, but with the help of particular drifters things start to become much easier when one drink is all it takes to solve a problem. A story of its own, told by the bartender as he'll tell you about the drifters that he came across and watched struggle with that debt they all shared; starting with Jody Oslaugn.
