"The Death Complexion" illustrates the lives of two young African Americans, Larry Hughes and Danyele Williams, who have already given up on life because they are not brought up well, poor and unemployed. Larry undergoes hell in his childhood and loses his most lovely sister in the process due to the negligence of their mom. In the same way, Danyele also experiences incest with her father and more when she is not even a teenager. However, they both become vagabonds and very poor drug addicts like their parents. Larry gets thrown to jail in the process due to a failed robbery, while Danyele escapes.

All of a sudden, Larry witnesses unexpected turnaround when he meets Faith King who gives him hints that make him discover himself after he has gotten out of jail. Danyele also mends her way with the help of Larry and they both achieve impossibility, and help many other people.
