"Be that flourishing light amongst the typical negatives, and constantly challenge other's conceptions, for you'll likely teach them a lot about life."Life is inherently unpredictable, yet we are consumed by the notion that we must somehow control it. We strive to fulfill some great purpose, based entirely on societal conceptions of correctness. "The Art of an Unpredictable Life" is a collection of poetry that challenges the idea of perfectibility by considering the inherent fallacy of the human association to positives and negatives. Sometimes pain and suffering become our greatest motivator to achieving a life that we're proud of, yet these are things that are always looked down upon. In turn, thinking that there is a correct way of living life will never allow for progression. Sometimes our greatest moments and memories occur unpredictably, and most often, they are entirely imperfect in nature. Sophie Twohig is a student at the University of Ottawa, pursuing an undergraduate degree in Conflict Studies and Human Rights. She has extensive experience volunteering with mental health initiatives and with people who have intellectual disabilities. In her free time, she enjoys playing music, drawing, and going on hikes with her dog Everett. She is from Halifax, Nova Scotia.
