During Helen Mannion's move to an assisted living home closer to family in 2004, her niece Lorraine Matyskiel- Pretty found a hope chest that she was leaving behind and asked to have it. Inside this chest were two years of Helen's life during WWII told in letters exchanged between 3 people, and of the love she shared during this time in history. They hold a tale of what life was like in the 40's, romance, suspense, drama, loss and love. Even though most of the dangers of war, were fought overseas, the lives of those on the home front were also greatly affected.
