A Change of Plans
Mike Jeglic
Sometimes, our best laid plans are uprooted in an instant. That's what happens to Jake Adams when he unexpectedly loses his job. Discouraged by a three month search, he and his wife Gina make the bold decision to retire early, sell everything, and buy a boat. They find a blue water sailboat of their dreams on Chesapeake Bay, move aboard, and start their retirement on the water. Across the Gulf of Mexico, the Montoyas, desperate Columbian siblings, become entangled in the narcotics trade. Each is engaged, either by force, blackmail, or unwittingly, in developing a new submarine smuggling route through the Caribbean. As Jake and Gina's cruising adventure begins, they discover that their boat's prior owner had a secret past, one that puts them in mortal danger. They join forces with the prior owner's old friends, and together they embark on a quest to unlock his old secrets, and beat the traffickers to millions of dollars hidden on the Virgin Islands. The Adams' and Montoya families embark on independent journeys to the Caribbean, in a race against drug cartels, time, and the law. Their paths cross in a gripping maritime adventure about friendship, trust, redemption, and ultimately, a change of plans.
