I quit drinking in 2005, but it wasn't long before I realized drinking wasn't my problem. The real problem was me, and my attitude about life. I was sober, but I was still making the same poor choices. I knew if I wanted to stay sober, I was going to have to figure out why I drank in the first place. I had to take responsibility for my life, stop blaming people, figure out who I was, and decide what I wanted to do with my life. I had to open my mind, let go of resentments, and learn how to forgive those who had hurt me. I had to accept that life isn't fair, and I learned to play the cards I was dealt. Little by little, life became better. I became better. One thing I have learned is that life doesn't always turn out the way you want it to; sometimes it's better than you ever imagined.
