Nick thought he would be lounging around on his grandparents' farm. His grandfather had other plans. Nick isn't sure about the future; his grandfather isn't sure about the past. Nick was prepared for a boring visit to his grandparents' farm during the summer before his senior year of high school. Instead, he finds himself on a road trip around Virginia with his grandfather and Marilyn - his grandfather's 1959 Chevy Impala. Frat parties, bar fights, ghosts, a country church, and much more - nothing is what it seems as Nick, Grandfather, and Marilyn embark on a series of adventures and misadventures while visiting people and places from Grandfather's past.
