What are the Lord's tender mercies? Nephi, the first record keeper of the Book of Mormon and a righteous son of the prophet Lehi described it well in the first chapter of his record. He observed his father warning his people tirelessly in Jerusalem to repent or be destroyed. His people rejected his message and sought to kill him. "...but behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those who he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance." (1 Nephi 1:20) We truly believe that the stories recorded by Nephi and other prophets in the scriptures are to show the tender mercies of the Lord to all whom he has chosen according to their faith. TheTender Mercies of the Lord in the Tonga Nuku'alofa Mission 1998-1992 is our witness that His tender mercies are given to all of His chosen servants, including the missionaries we were blessed to labor with. We sincerely hope this compilation will instill a desire within each of us to record the Lord's tender mercies bestowed on us individually in our family history and to use them for instruction and edification as we teach one another the doctrine of the Kingdom.
