Standing Stones
Charlie Hastings
Standing Stones is a testament to the young men of our time, both to the romantic desire men have to be heroes and to the meek yet festering feeling men have to be accepted. It is a book that highlights everything wrong and the few things that are right with how young men, in particular, are brought up. Each story in the anthology explores the story behind young men and boys who are either in their prime, preparing to enter it, or just exiting. Each character begins as either too sure of themselves or too unsure until a catalyst emerges that makes everyone question what they really believe in. Standing Stones is the debut novel by Charlie Hastings, a high school senior from Charleston, South Carolina who loves everything from surfing the break in front of his house to brawling in the ring for his local amateur boxing league. He has won numerous writing awards, including several Scholastic Gold and Silver Medals, several Scholastic Honorable Mentions, and the 2017 Carl Sandburg Poetry Contest 3rd Place prize. He has also been published in Best Teen Writing 2018.
