U.D.O. | Voodoo Ranger
With the album Voodoo Ranger, U.D.O. continues the uncompromising heavy metal tradition that has made the German singer Udo Dirkschneider one of the genre's most recognizable voices. As the former frontman of Accept and the driving force behind his own band since 1987, Dirkschneider has been a central figure on the European metal scene for more than four decades.
Voodoo Ranger also marks a very special anniversary year for U.D.O. In 2027, Udo Dirkschneider turns 75, the band celebrates its 40th anniversary, and the album will be their 20th studio release. The new material ranges from classic heavy metal anthems to darker and more intense passages, as well as two ballads that show a more emotional side of the band.
The songs were written by Udo Dirkschneider, Sven Dirkschneider, Peter Baltes, and Fabian "Dee" Dammers with contributions from the new guitarist Alen Brentini. On the closing track "Movin' On", bassist Peter Baltes takes over on vocals. The album is produced and mixed by Martin "Mattes" Pfeiffer and mastered by Stefan Kaufmann, while the cover illustration was created by Eliran Kantor.
