Strange Weather From the Basement
Marianne Nowottny
Released in 2005 on Barl Fire in a 100 copy edition, Strange Weather from the Basement captures Marianne Nowottny in a rare instrumental setting. Spanning eight solo tracks for piano, Optigan, and electronic keyboard, it blends Satie-like minimalism and backward tape effects. Praised by critic Tony Dale as a gem 'micro-labels were born to do,' it balances antique elegance with alien strangeness.
