American Preludes: 20Th-Century Piano Music Of The Americas
Allan Manhas
This Da Vinci Classics album presents self-standing Prelude sets written or transcribed for piano. Villa-Lobos’s Five Guitar Preludes, effectively recast for keyboard, are followed by Manuel Ponce’s Preludios encadenados, Ginastera’s twelve “American” Preludes, and thirteen Preludes by Jean Coulthard, whose voice emerges from a fertile dialogue between tradition and modernity today.
