Mighty Sam is an R&B legend who shook up the blues world with his 1993 release, one of the great torchbearers of soul captured in top form on this classic. And this 45prm gatefold edition presented here by Analogue Productions makes the album even greater!

The four sides are cut with a wider groove spacing than the 33rpm version, resulting in less distortion and better high frequency reproduction. McClain sings soul with incredible power. He knows when to go for it and when it's better to hold back. "Give It Up To Love", the title track, draws on his gospel roots; he offers it as a sung prayer to God, asking for wisdom, love and strength. Bruce Katz's participation on the B-3 Hammond organ expands McClain's sound, especially on the Green Onions-influenced "What You Want Me to Do". The seemingly sparse arrangement of "Here I Go Falling In Love Again" is brought to perfection by McClain's lament that he is a soul stripped to the bone. Kevin Barry's funky bass echoes as McClain declares himself a child of God on "Child of the Mighty Mighty".
