More than twenty years after reinterpreting post-punk with their now cult-worshipped debut album, Nouvelle Vague opens a new and ambitious chapter with the album A Date with Depeche Mode – an entire album of reinterpretations of one of the most influential and beloved song catalogues of the last 40 years.

Few bands have made such a significant mark on pop culture as Depeche Mode, and few artists master the art of reinterpreting music like Nouvelle Vague. Bringing these two worlds together feels both completely unexpected and at the same time almost inevitable.

The album was recorded in Rio de Janeiro and Paris and transforms thirteen Depeche Mode classics into intimate, cinematic, and deeply emotional songs. Music that was originally driven by machines and electronics here receives a warm, organic, and timeless expression, which highlights the songwriting at the heart of the iconic compositions.

The tracks are performed by an international team of guest vocalists, including Skye Edwards (Morcheeba), Beth Hirsch, Flavia Coelho, Mélanie Pain, Phoebe Killdeer, and Fredrika Stahl. Each track becomes a unique encounter between a voice and a song – entirely in line with Nouvelle Vague's characteristic approach.

From "Enjoy the Silence" and "Personal Jesus" to "Stripped", "Just Can’t Get Enough" and the cult favorite "Ice Machine", the timeless songs are reborn with inspiration from bossa nova, jazz, French pop, and Latin American tones – without losing their original emotional power.
